What is Y.A.R.N.?

Welcome, and Namaste!

Who are the DHARMA TIGERS?
Fierce people doing yoga. You & me.

Us. Roaring, which is something only "great cats"--like tigers, lions, leopards and jaguars--can do. Big cats can't, and snow leopards can't.

WHAT IS YARN?!
YARN is the Yogi Resource Activist Network, my new project to bring together activist yogis for information, events, resource sharing and projects of all kinds.

ABOUT ME:

I am a yoga teacher, activist and academic, currently working on my PhD at Univ. of California, Davis. I study YOGA -- in practice, classical philosophy and community building.

I also work with Yoga Peace Ambassadors and Yogis Without Borders, creating service projects around the Millennium Development Goals, and working with yoga teachers who travel into natural disaster areas and post-armed conflict situations to provide humanitarian assistance. My main project with them is Jerusalem Arts Camp, bringing together American, Israeli and Palestinian artists to explore peace-building through an arts camp and public festival in 2011.

WHAT'S GOING ON HERE:

I will be posting news announcements on upcoming workshops, events, and books around the U.S. and internationally. I will also share information related to my own activism, and a major research project I am doing on American yoginis. In 2009-2010 I will be doing interviews with and filming 108 American women who do yoga and are activists in their community. I am making a book and movie about this for my dissertation.
